Some of my non-French friends know that I've been involved with the so called DADVSI law which is about copyright on the Net. This is the law which made Wired publish headline like How France Is Saving Civilization, while Apple threaten to back out from the French market.

I have a lot of trouble explaining what DADVSI is, but luckily, Jean-Baptiste Soufron, lawyer and Wikimedia Foundation legal coordinator, has written a great article on this very topic: EUCD / DADVSI : what is going on with the new French copyright law ?. A must-read, at least for those who are concerned by DRMs and the future of culture (and why the law may be dangerous for Open-Source Software, which has pushed me to work on this topic with government officials).
